The icon appeared in 1470 near the village of Zhirovichi (Slonim district, Grodno region). In the forest, which then belonged to the Orthodox Lithuanian nobleman Alexander Soltan, shepherd children saw an unusually bright light penetrating through the branches of a pear tree that stood above a stream under the mountain. The guys came closer and saw a small icon of the Mother of God on a tree in a radiant glow.
